Synopsis:

Four young ladies enter London society and band together to each find a husband. Has the third "Wallflower" now met her match?

A Devil's Bargain

Easily the shyest Wallflower, Evangeline Jenner stands to become the wealthiest, once her inheritance comes due. Because she must first escape the clutches of her unscrupulous relatives, Evie has approached the rake Viscount St. Vincent with a most outrageous proposition: marriage!

Sebastian's reputation is so dangerous that thirty seconds alone with him will ruin any maiden's good name. Still, this bewitching chit appeared, unchaperoned, on his doorstep to offer her hand. Certainly an aristocrat with a fine eye for beauty could do far worse.

But Evie's proposal comes with a condition: no lovemaking after their wedding night. She will never become just another of the dashing libertine's callously discarded broken hearts—which means Sebastian will simply have to work harder at his seductions... or perhaps surrender his own heart for the very first time in the name of true love.

My Review:
The first time I read this book, I actually very rarely read imported books except if I was bribed. Honestly, it's because I'm not good to judge a imports book because I could see romance genre sure there would be many bed scenes. Anyway, if it's indeed good we can follow the same storyline and washed away not just because hot scene. Mmmm ... This novel is arguably the first novel that finally got me interested after watching its review on Goodreads not because it's venal or booming. Firstly I just want to downloads on the Internet at the same time learning how to read English novels, but well, in book rent I usuaI visited it suddenly appears in there. Lisa Kleypas seems quite popular because so many of her books when I check on the book rent shelves.

Ah, back to the book.
Geeezzz ... yeah my guess was not wrong, there so many of  hot scenes. Nearly 60% of its contents certainly if not kissing it's more. But now that I think, maybe this was its trademark. I can see Lisa wrote the 'it' until a few pages and I thought seems to be ok. It's just that in the end, which made me decide that this book was good because the interaction of the characters made me very happy for whatever reason. Their interactions were mutually seducing it actually made me enjoy it.

I found the characters that made me fall in love whether to Sebastian or Evie. And read this book made me inexplicably stripped of the writing of AliaZalea, Indonesian writer who also has the same characteristics writing, kind of western style.

When I read this book, I found that from the beginning I could not hate Evie. Her stuttering, shyness, but stubborn, somehow made me very happy. It seemed that her nature fits in well with Sebastian who kind of playboy and somehow he got very loved Evie and even almost adored her. And sebastian, I love him sooo much. I really like the same attention that seemed to come from his subconscious. I like for all his severe jealousy mad. Honestly, the Sebastian character  is almost difficult to describe but he's so easy to guess.

He never regretted to have sexual life with girls went around and slept with them all. Even when she married Evie, he also always ensure that there was no love in their marriage. He also confidently said that he would have another woman besides Evie.

And Evie ... I love this woman because of her levels of extraordinary tolerance for Sebastian. She never pulled her words including allowing him to make love with anyone. She did not put a limit to her husband and liberate him, provided that she also has the same freedom.

Buuuuttt, interestingly it was when sebastian inexplicably changed involuntarily. Not because his will but he stops himself from his habit with the women and the existence of Evie as an opium for him. Because all he wanted was Evie, his interest in women suddenly faded away. When he was given a challenge by Evie, he insisted they would not be able to do so and insisted saying that he would be fraudulent and may be looking for another woman to satisfy her. But in reality, again his unconsciously great desire to Evie made he did not want something else but Evie. And Lisa made it all made sense and feels good. She could describe these two characters perfectly so that we could feel for what Sebastian desire and his stubborness along to his desire on Evie side. I love the way Lisa made her point of view and used the word like 'husband', 'wife', 'my husband', 'wife' who makes all narrative or conversation subconsciously feels so romantic.

The theme of this book is very similar to Celebrity Wedding by AliaZalea although different issues and core. However, the depiction of affection in this book somehow be in one point higher than Celebrity Wedding. Girl in CW was too stubborn to make the reader felt almost bored and tired because obviously the boyfriend already repentance. Butin time when it already take the good part, the third person used as a foothold to reach the climax of the story. While the stubbornness of Evie in Devil in Winter impressed clever and commensurate with the Sebastian  unwillingness in recognizing the innocence. Evie still love Sebastian who insisted not wanted to admit how much he loved her and was going crazy because Evie (where Evie realized it all) so Evie's stuborness more tempting than the real anger. The climax was also not a third person but purely placed where Sebastian finally admits that he loves Evie was not just physical but all that was within her, and that comes soooo sweet.
